Hello my loves,

The other day on Instagram I shared a post about The Sacred Art of Adornment and I received several DMs from my community saying how they never thought of this perspective before and I wanted to expand on it further.

The art of sacred adornment and beautification of the human body is a timeless practice dating back to ancient civilizations. It’s one of the many ways we express our emotions, thoughts, and values. Rooted in ancient traditions, our ancestors would use beauty creation with the human form as a form of expressing reverence, giving tribute, and prayer. For instance, when someone's getting married, it's not unusual for them to spend a year perfecting their appearance. Dressing up for special occasions like birthdays, holidays, graduations, and job interviews is a way we express our inner joy and celebration through our outer beauty.

I was a hairstylist for 10 years and my mission then, still very much is similar to my mission now, is guiding people home to their fullest self-expression. Back then it was through beauty, now its through one of the most forgotten parts of our expression, our erotism.

In both my own personal and professional experience, adorning oneself goes beyond the physical act. It is a deeply spiritual practice that allows us to connect with our inner essence and connect with something greater than ourselves. When we take the time to adorn ourselves, we are not just beautifying our physical appearance, but also adorning our souls with intention and purpose.

In my coaching practice the first set of questions I ask the women I support is, “Who is the version of you that you can’t stop dreaming of? How does she move, walk, speak, dress? How does she fuck and how does she make love?”

These questions may seem unconventional and provocative at first, but they hold the key to unlocking our true self-expression. They delve into the depths of our desires and allow us to envision the woman we aspire to become. By exploring our fantasies and intimate desires, we tap into a wellspring of creativity and passion that resides within us, to discover the facets of ourselves that have long been suppressed or forgotten. It is an act of self-love and self-acceptance, embracing our bodies and desires without shame or judgment.

In a world that often seeks to repress and control female sexuality, adorning ourselves becomes an act of rebellion. It is a defiant statement that says, "I refuse to conform to society's expectations. I will embrace my desires and honor my authentic self."

Through my coaching practice, I guide women on a transformative journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Together, we explore their deepest desires and fears, unraveling societal conditioning and embracing their unique erotic essence. We delve into the stories and beliefs that have held them back, liberating them from the chains of shame and guilt.

Adornment is a powerful tool for self-expression and liberation. It is not about conforming to societal beauty standards, but about embracing our individuality and celebrating our unique forms of beauty. It is about adorning our bodies with intention, infusing every movement with sensuality and grace.

As women awaken to the sacred art of adornment, they begin to radiate a magnetic energy that draws others towards them. They become confident in their own skin, unapologetically embracing their desires and expressing their true selves. Their beauty, both inner and outer, shines brightly, captivating the world around them.

Adornment, in the realm of erotism, is not limited to the physical act of dressing up or applying makeup. It is an invitation to explore and awaken our senses. It is an invitation to touch our bodies with love and care, to adorn our skin with oils and lotions that awaken our senses. It is an invitation to taste and savor the pleasure of indulging in luxurious foods and drinks that ignite our taste buds and nourish our souls. It is an invitation to listen to the music that resonates deep within us, allowing our bodies to sway and dance to the rhythm of our desires.

Clothing helps to convey our identities, emotions, and beliefs. The colors we choose, the textures we wear, and the styles we embrace all hold a symbolic meaning. Just as ancient civilizations used specific adornments to represent their spiritual beliefs, we too can infuse our daily lives with intention and meaning through our clothing choices.

The process of adorning oneself is a mindful practice, requiring self-reflection and awareness. It is an opportunity to tap into our inner desires, values, and aspirations. By carefully selecting each piece of clothing, we can manifest our intentions outwardly and align our physical appearance with our spiritual and emotional states.

In addition to clothing, accessories play a vital role in the art of adornment. Jewelry, for example, has been used throughout history as a means of self-expression and as a symbol of status and spirituality. Each piece holds its own unique energy and can be chosen with intention to enhance certain aspects of our lives.

The act of adorning ourselves can be seen as a form of self-care. By taking the time to nurture our physical appearance, we are also nurturing our souls. It is a way of honoring our bodies, celebrating our uniqueness, and expressing gratitude for the vessel that houses our soul.

This sacred practice transforms everyday activities into intentional rituals of self-love and appreciation. For me this transcends any sensual self-love practice into a self-romance practice.

Adornment is not limited to our outward appearance either. It extends to our surroundings, our homes, and our personal spaces. Just as we adorn ourselves, we can also create sacred environments that reflect our inner beauty and bring us a sense of peace and tranquility.

The art of sacred adornment is a continuous journey of self-discovery and self-expression. It is a practice that evolves with us, as our values and beliefs transform over time. Through the act of adorning ourselves and our surroundings, we can tap into a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us. It is a reminder that we are not just physical beings, but spiritual beings on a journey of growth and self-realization.

Other forms of adornment may include dancing, music, or creating art. Making adornment a part of your daily rituals can facilitate being present in the moment and create a space for mindfulness. A simple task such as applying makeup can metamorphose into a meditative act, with attention focused on the application of colors, creation of shadows, and drawing of lines.

To create a sense of reverence in our lives, multiple tools can be utilized. Essential oils, incense, crystals, specific clothing or cosmetics, dance, and yoga are all potential mechanisms. These tools help to set a particular mood, heal, uplift, and strengthen the practice of self-care, inherently connecting it to the practice of adornment.

Although it can sometimes be a struggle to maintain a constant rhythm in our self-care, especially in times of emotional low, the principles of adornment urge us to continue the practice even in its simplest forms. Drinking water, applying a splash of water on the face, changing clothes, or eating - each task can be transformed into a self-care ritual.

Seven Simple Approaches to The Sacred Art of Adornment

Integrate Mindful Practices Into Your Beauty Routine

Turn your daily beauty rituals into mindful sessions. Whether it is applying makeup or choosing your outfit, do it with intention and reflection. For example, as you brush your hair, envision smoothing out the day's challenges. This transforms a mundane act into a meditative practice enriching both your appearance and spirit.

Curate A Sensation-Based Wardrobe

Revisit your closet and select clothing that truly resonates with how you want to feel. Each piece should make you feel confident, at peace, or empowered.  Does it make you feel elegant, sensuous, empowered, regal or confident? Does it make you feel comfortable in your own skin? Notice the fabrics, colors, and cuts you are drawn to, and let these guide your choices, creating a wardrobe that reflects your self-expression and comfort.

For some, a soft, plush cashmere sweater may evoke feelings of comfort and security, reminiscent of a warm hug. Choosing clothes with textures that provide physical comfort can enhance your overall well-being.

The weight of the fabric and how it moves with you can also affect your mood. Lightweight, airy fabrics might be chosen for days when you wish to feel carefree and unburdened, while heavier, structured materials might be chosen for times when you desire to feel grounded and focused.
